The interns required skill set
  • Must be comfortable working with many types of animals
  • Knowledge of basic computer systems: Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Must be able to operate computer and other office machines such as fax, calculator, copier, telephones and so on
  • Professionalism, self-motivation, administrative and technological skills, enthusiasm and responsibility are a must and great advantage
A list of tasks the intern may assist with
The intern will work under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian or veterinary technician who determines the scope of their activities. Duties may include:– Providing basic care for animals: feeding, watering, exercising, or giving prescribed medications

  • Grooming of animals: cleaning ears, bathing, brushing or trimming nails.
  • Cleaning: animal cages, exam and surgical equipment, exam tables, and general disinfecting
  • Help in restraining animals for exams, vaccinations, procedures, or x-rays
  • Shadow of management staff
  • Tasks vary depending on available management and need
  • Front desk related work and general office administration
  • Customer service and phone operation
  • The intern should expect the majority of the internship to be project-based and also include observation and assistance of the Managers at the Host Company.
  • Interns should also expect some administrative work of a general nature.
