  • The organizations ultimate goal is a sustainable planet: one where every part of the global ecosystem thrives without compromising any other part and where the diversity of life and cultures flourishes.
  • Their scientists and volunteers actively work together to achieve that goal.
  • This organization invites an intern with a passion for the environment to join their successful team.
The interns required skill set
  • Strong leadership, management and organisational skills.
  • Must be flexible and have well developed interpersonal skills.
  • Must excel in personal interactions with the staff and volunteers at all levels of the organisation.
  • Knowledge of basic computer systems: Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Must be able to operate computer and other office machines such as fax, calculator, copier, telephones and so on.
  • Professionalism, self-motivation, enthusiasm and responsibility are a must and great advantage.
A list of tasks the intern may assist with
  • The intern should expect the majority of the internship to be project-based and also include observation and assistance of the Managers at the Host Company.
  • Interns should also expect some administrative work of a general nature. Duties may include:
  • Phenological investigation of historical herbaria records
  • Review papers of phenology (timing of natural events e.g. flower blooming) to summarize main points
  • Fact sheets on bird species – for a TV climate watch program
  • Acknowledgment emails and letters to entrants in a current film competition
  • Acting as field assistant in a specific area (as part of current fauna surveys etc)
  • General phone and email enquiries – they would provide contacts within the company that the intern can call for support or can refer enquiries to.

**Please note that for some days during the internship, interns will be in the office by themselves when the managers and supervisors are at meetings or in the field on projects.
