Our Cultural Values

The following guiding values, together with cultural understanding, are here to help DIA’s team assist clients and help them reach their goals. We hope you, our clients, and anyone who reads them, will hold us to these principles, and live by them, for a happier, healthier professional and personal life.

We respect each and every culture in the world and understand that others may not have the same cultural background as we do. We acknowledge our differences, and learn, appreciate and see the benefits of this so we can work and live well together.

1. I am committed to my own and others’ engagement

I am committed to Dream Internship Australia’s vision, mission, culture, goals, rules, success, its current and future team and its clients at all times. I believe in and recommend Dream Internship Australia’s products and services and am a proud team member in and outside of the workplace. I am committed to the programs they offer, and if or when I undertake a program, I will commit to my own and others’ engagement in the program.

2. I take ownership for my actions

I take responsibility and ownerships for my actions and their outcomes in my professional and personal life. I am accountable for my results which I learn from and celebrate. I understand that there are consequences of what I say and do, so that when situations arise, I will initially look at my own contribution to the situation and reflect on how I can commend myself or learn, be it failure or success.

3. I show integrity by always doing my best or the right thing

I am always honest and reliable. I deliver what I promise. I only make agreements I am willing and aim to keep. I am approachable and will remain solution-driven in any relationship. I communicate and resolve all and any possible broken agreements at first opportunity. I have made an effort to understand the meaning of moral and ethical principles. According to my values, I will drive to always do what I believe is the right thing to do at that time. I will not try to do my best, I will do my best.

4. I will impart or acquire knowledge through continuous education

I admit my mistakes and learn from them. I consistently learn, grow, master and teach together with my team, clients and family. I am a learner and an educator and allow my clients to make their own intelligent decisions. I support practical and theoretical education, learning from experienced and passionate people. I will regularly engage in the act of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing myself or others intellectually for mature life.

5. I collaborate with others to achieve mutual success

I am a team player and team leader. I understand the importance of my influence and participation in team work. I am flexible and committed to the team and those I serve. I am not afraid to ask for help when I need it and I am compassionate to others who ask me. I make a conscious effort to understand myself and others, to communicate openly and honestly, to mentor and develop others, to be part of or to manage groups and leading teams, to  manage and encourage constructive conflict.

6. I have a positive attitude and communication

I have a positive outlook on everything and everyone, although I know my brain is programmed to recall negativity more than positivity. For this reason, I speak and think well of others and engage only in positive conversation. I am not negative and do not listen to gossip or assume negatively of others. I am a good listener.  I take responsibility for responses to my communication. I greet people using their name in a polite manner. I am humble and always apologise before proceeding towards solutions. I discuss concerns in private with the person involved. I think positive thoughts and take positive action. I will engage in my internal power of positive thinking which is directly connected to my ability to remove, control or eliminate negative thoughts. I will develop positive thinking patterns that will change my thinking and change my beliefs.

7. I strive for best practice and excellence to achieve effectiveness

I always deliver valuable products and services of excellent quality to all clients for the long term. I look for ways to constantly improve, staying true to education, innovation, action and opportunity. Although I allow for mistakes and understand that perfection is ambiguous, I will always do my best to reach high standard and quality in what I do. I understand that my own ability to engage effectively in two-way communication, including all my senses, will determine my own success. Excellence in communication will be reliant upon contingencies, situations, games, experience, beliefs and environment. Thus, my ability to communicate effectively and achieve excellence in what I do is reliant upon my own values and vision.

8. I am successful

I focus my thoughts, energy and attention on the successful outcome of whatever I am doing. I support winning, participating, and I am happy for others’ success. I am proud, confident, capable and professional. I celebrate my success. I understand that success means different things to different people, and therefore make an effort to understand what success means to me and what it means to others’.

9. I consciously systemise myself, my philosophies and my processes

I always look to the system for a solution. If a problem arises I look for an amendment to the process before I look  to people. I look for a system solution in my innovation rather than in another person. I follow the system exactly until a new system is introduced. I suggest system improvements at my first opportunity. I will forgive myself and others if a system is not followed and look for amendments to make a new and improved system work.

10. I am consistent in my views, what I say and what I do

I am consistent in my actions so my clients and teammates know who they are dealing with. I am disciplined in my work so that my results, growth and success are consistent. I appreciate when people highlight my in-consistency so that I can learn how to be more consistent in the views of others.

11. I have fun, I am healthy, and I am happy

I love my work and enjoy it. I create a pleasurable atmosphere around me for others to be inspired by and take part in. I choose to be happy. I believe in physical exercise and activities and know the energy and happiness that it brings to my work and life. To me, health and happiness is one in the same. I make an effort to have a heathy mind and body and to share this with others around me.

12. I have balance in my work and life

I have a sound work life balance, nurturing my spiritual, social, physical and family aspects as well as my financial and intellectual aspects. I complete my work and my most important tasks first, so I can have quality time to myself, with my family and friends and also to renew. I write goals for my self and share them with others so that I know, and my friends and colleagues know, what I want out of my life and how I will find balance. I also look to other people’s goals to see how they find balance and to see what I can learn from them and how I can synergise with them.

13. I am grateful for what I have and for my opportunities

I am a grateful person who says thank you and please and shows appreciation so that all around me know how much I appreciate everything and everyone I have in my life. I am happy for myself and for others. I am proud of myself and of others. I strive to do the right thing, and look for the same in others. I celebrate my wins, the wins of my clients, the wins of my team and the wins of my family and friends. “Thank you mum for the priceless and constant support you show in my development as a good human being. You have raised a grateful individual, who loves you very much.”

14. I engage in open and honest communication

I am transparent and I deserve the open and honest communication I give and receive. I allow open and honest communication into all areas of my life by respecting my own self worth and that of all others. I value myself highly and strive to be everything I can be. I am rewarded to the level that I create open and honest communication for others and I accept that open and honest communication only shows up in my life to the level at which I contribute. I appreciate when others are open and honest with me, and will take that openness and honesty on to improve a better me.
